SLB OneSubsea has been awarded an EPC contract by Equinor for a 12-well all-electric subsea production system at the Fram Sør project offshore Norway, the company said on Monday.
The system will include four subsea templates and 12 all-electric trees, which will reduce topside modifications and eliminate the need for hydraulic fluid from the host platform. The Fram Sør project will be tied back to the Troll C platform in the North Sea and is designed to have very low emissions due to shore-based power supply.
The contract follows a one-year FEED phase between Equinor and SLB OneSubsea that led to the project’s development plan and final investment decision. The agreement is pending regulatory approval of the plan for development and operations.
“Fram Sør is a breakthrough project for our industry — marking the first large-scale all-electric subsea production system,” SLB OneSubsea chief executive officer Mads Hjelmeland said.
SLB is a global technology company with operations in more than 100 countries. It provides services across oil and gas innovation, digital transformation, decarbonisation and new energy system development.
SLB OneSubsea is a joint venture of SLB, Aker Solutions and Subsea7. The company is based in Oslo and Houston and focuses on digital and technological innovation for subsea operations, with 10,000 employees worldwide.
